Tapioca Mobile Gets Funding from Venrock
28 March 2008Tapioca Mobile said this week it received $5 million in Series A funding led by return investor Venrock.
Tapioca Mobile is a mobile content delivery network, and that’s about all we can say about the company thus far. Little information seems to be available about this stealth-mode startup, though we know that it received an undisclosed amount of seed funding from Venrock in September last year.
The company’s Web site allows users to sign up for its “system,” which is described as one that lets publishers deliver video, images and audio through SMS messages on a mobile phone.
There are, of course, a few systems that already do this, such as the mobile blog sites Twitter and Utterz. Tapioca seems to want to monetize that type of content, which suggests the company could be geared toward professional content producers.
The company has not announced anything further.
