Napster, Ericsson Launch Mobile Music Service for O2 UK

24 March 2008

Napster and Ericsson last week launched the Napster Mobile music service with UK wireless-leader O2, even though O2 is the exclusive Apple iPhone distributor in the UK.

The service was co-developed by Napster and Ericsson and allows customers to search, browse, preview, purchase and play full-length tracks from Napster’s catalog of more than five million songs.

Napster Mobile also offers dual-delivery for simultaneous downloads to a subscriber’s PC and mobile phone. In other words, users can download songs directly to their phones with a copy of the song available to download on their PCs.

The service also features a recommendation tool and access to Napster’s featured artists and top tracks.

Last October AT&T, also an exclusive iPhone distributor, made a similar deal with Napster.
