Kyte Launches New Player, Facebook Apps for Mobile Delivery, Live Streaming
14 March 2008Mobile content broadcaster Kyte this week released several updates to its social communications platform, some of which are significant to helping the company grow its mobile music offering during a time when album sales are declining.
The company has released a “Premium Player,” which features custom branding and viral functionality. Kyte has also launched new branded Facebook applications that allow live streaming, an important feature of online media today.
The applications on Facebook, in combination with its Premium Player software, lets artists and fans communicate directly, buy and sell merchandise, and share multimedia content in real-time using a Webcam or a mobile phone.
“It’s no secret the music industry is in a time of struggle and looking for new and innovative ways to turn artists into brands, so they can capitalize on their image instead of relying on album sales,” said Kyte CEO Daniel Graf.
Kyte is currently working with artists from all the major record labels, as well as independent artists and management companies, to host exclusive behind-the-scenes footage of bands on tour. The company wants the artists to use the Kyte Platform to broadcast mobile video in real-time to multiple online and mobile destinations.
Kyte said artists such as 50 Cent are achieving millions of show views and massive viral content distribution across thousands of Web sites with the Kyte Platform.
