Openwave, Zero Start To Give Us a Chopi Mini-blog
19 January 2008Openwave Systems has announced a partnership with Japanese start-up
Zero Start Communications to launch a mobile mini-blog named
“chopi.”
Chopi will allow users to post messages, join communities and
communicate with friends, family and strangers through their mobile
device. The mini-blog service also includes closed community pages,
private messages and a search function.
With the great variety in names and styles of blogs out there, it’s
best to think of a mini-blog as a sort of scrapbook of current,
small events. Mini-blogs (for comparable services look at Tumblr or
Jaiku) are where users post notes and quick messages about current
small events, like current books being read or songs listened to,
post small videos and photos from mobiles and they allow users to
receive constant, similar messages from their friends.
“In Japan, mini-blogs are among the latest trends in mobile
communications,” said Shinichi Ijichi, senior executive managing
director for Zero Start. “The chopi service targets avid mobile
users who eat, sleep and breathe the mobile lifestyle.”
