Dirtbag Music Launches a New Kind of Social Network

19 January 2008

Dirtbag Music has launched a revolutionary social music network site
that provides free world-wide video and voice calls for every user,
new mobile applications and a new commerce engine to monetize just
about everything.

Dirtbag’s worldwide VoIP uses its multimedia instant messenger
system, “Blab Box,” for real-time social interactions. These
interactions can also be profitable with the e-commerce engine,
allowing users to monetize products and features. Along with selling
tradition songs and merchandise, artists can sell lessons, video-
chats, concerts and just about anything else imaginable.

One reason for the big push in behind-the-scenes and real time
interaction with fans is that there is no DRM involved. Since these
events cannot be duplicated, DRM is a non-issue, said Mark Evans,
senior VP of business development for Dirtbag Music. He said this is
an experience that “radically changes how the music industry
operates.” The site, with plenty of industry backing, should be
fully up and running in late Spring.
