Lexar, Kodak Keep Up the Partnership and Keep the Products Coming
4 January 2008Lexar Media, which develops memory products for digital media, has unveiled a new line of Kodak flash memory products. This use of the Kodak brand will allow Lexar to reach into new markets of strictly Kodak users. These Kodak products will include new mobile microSDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) and microSD memory cards, Kodak USB flash drives and high-capacity SD cards.
These products are among the first announced, but consumers can look for many more integrated and specifically Kodak-oriented products to immerge during the five-year extension of the Kodak-Lexar agreement. The new agreement now allows and encourages expanding the coverage and specificity of Lexar products for Kodak.
“Kodak’s embrace of flash technology has been one of the key factors in helping speed consumer acceptance of digital photography,” said Mark Adams, VP of Lexar Media. “We’re in a better position than ever to combine Kodak’s brand strength and product breadth with Lexar’s technology and manufacturing expertise to create a new class of affordable, high-quality Kodak memory products that address today’s growing technology markets. These new product introductions are just the beginning.”
The new Kodak microSD Mobile Memory Cards coming out are 1GB and 2GB in capacity and include free adaptors for SD and miniSD products. The Kodak microSDHC Mobile Memory Card comes with a 4GB capacity and an SDHC adapter. Gartner Research has said that microSD cards are poised to grow more than any competitor or other type. Banking on this, Lexar has decided to maximize storage potential on these cards, to hold more information and to hold files like pictures at much higher resolutions.
Lexar has also rolled out the Kodak SDHC and a Kodak SDHC High Performance Memory Card, both 8GB and available later this month. They’re designed for SDHC-enabled devices ranging from cameras to MP3 players and mobile video players.
Lexar has also put out a new Kodak USB flash drive soon to be available in 1GB, 2GB and 4GB capacities. They’re decent looking flash drives, based on Lexar’s popular JumpDrive USBs. They’re also directly compatible with Kodak’s line of digital picture frames and with Kodak’s Gallery.
