The problem with the slow acceptance of mobile content stems from the fact that it takes several clicks, sometimes as many as 15, for consumers to acquire mobile content. However, Mobile content provider Cellfish is hoping to alleviate this issue by launching Add-to-Phone, a feature that lets users download content online though just one click.
First, a user sends his phone number, after which an SMS message with a link to the content or news feed is sent. Content sent is formatted to each user’s individual handset. Publishers and bloggers who want to add the feature to their site can either copy and paste the button code within the HTML script or use the API creator to customize their own Add-to-Phone tool. The app is also available for Facebook users and lets users navigate through photo albums as well as download and share their photos and friends’ albums onto their cell phones.
