Motorola’s Zander: ‘We Are Not in the Applications Business’

Ed Zander, CEO of Motorola, one of Nokia’s main competitors, said the $8.1 billion that Nokia paid for navigation firm Navteq was “stunning.” He said Motorola had considered a bid but decided it wasn’t a good strategic fit. “We didn’t even think about it… We are not in the applications business.” He said there are risks when handset makers compete with their cellco customers.
